I'm looking beyond this election. Kerry the candidate has been a tremendous disappointment. He can't seem to manage his team. He doesn't know who he is. He's lost his own identity. Simply repeating the statement "I will fight for YOU!" is not good enough.
I've read the programs, proposals and policy statements. All of them I agree with. But I'm in doubt as to whether John Kerry can ever get any of it done. He seems incapable now of even getting an election team in place.
I still believe based on A.B.B. alone, it is possible, especially with the heroic work of our 527's in increasing democratic outreach, for Kerry to get elected. In my heart I believe that the polls are tied. The Harris poll shows this. The state polls are all over the place. The problem right now is that no C.W. is forming, and with such a muddled state of affairs today, we're getting swamped by the power of the Incumbency.
It's never easy beating a sitting president. It's easier if you can get your message out there, one which people agree with. But it's not effective to have a sullen identity. Kerry has lost himself. I think he needs to sit back and fire at least 25 of these so called jokers that are on his payroll. Christ, if he doesn't stop hiring people, he very well may end up hiring some of the better Diary writters here. A Jon Steward Moment could grab some headlines. I suggest he go out with a soundbite one day, "Sure I have alot of advisors; I've single handly created more jobs in 3 months than GWBush has in 4 years..."
But I digress. Kerry cannot and is not running his first job as Commander in Chief. He cannot run his campaign. If he is elected, he won't be able to run his white house. He'll become a Republican Whipping Boy, a Lame Duck President, and an ineffective leader. We'll have 4 years of gridlock, and in 2008, the Republicans will whip the floor with him with either Ruddy or Arnold.
And all we have left is Hillary? She'll get creamed everywhere off the coasts. No doubt about it.
The democratic party is in trouble. This election was our election to shine; we were handed a Bullshit President on a Silver Platter, a Hanging Curve Ball. But our field was weak from the start. The people in Iowa thought they chose right. It now appears they could have done much better. Kerry is not responsible for any of his positive position in the polls. It's Bush that is responsible for every Kerry voter, or should I say, fear of Bush.
Kerry has become the invisible candidate. He has no soul. This is all become rather depressing. Maybe it's cause a Hurricane just passed over my state (louisiana). But I feel like a man in solitary confinement screaming at the tube. While the dickwads on TV squable with CBS and Kerry tries to find a Tune...
I sit and wonder... What will Bush do to our country in the next four years? How bad will it get?
I'm worried, and Kerry no longer gives me any hope. But my fear of Bush will earn my vote....
That my friends is how we all feel today... And that is no way to be a winning Presidential Candidate...
