Bush to "frame the debate" in State of the Union

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush assured Republican lawmakers on Tuesday that he would offer new details about his aims for Social Security in next week's State of the Union speech to counter a rising tide of criticism from opponents.

After meeting with Bush at the White House, Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee told reporters the president would use the Feb. 2 address to the nation to put forward a clearer description of financial problems facing Social Security.

"I don't (expect) a complete plan. I think he is going to make the case to the American people of why it's important that we undertake this now," said Sen. Gordon Smith of Oregon. "That was our urging, that he help frame the debate."

Sorry, but the framing isn't working because it is a lie designed to pertuate a fraud. There is no Crisis. People aren't buying into Bush's privatization scheme...

Opponents including Democrats and the powerful senior citizens' lobby group, AARP, have heavily criticized the Bush strategy as a ploy to deliver a massive windfall to Bush supporters on Wall Street, which would add $1 trillion to $2 trillion in new government borrowing.

The White House also stirred anger among Democrats and Republicans alike by expressing support recently for an approach that would reduce future retiree benefits.

There is no crisis, but Bush plans to use the State of the Union to manufacture a crisis so he can pay Wall Street political backers $2 trillion to decrease future retirement accounts?
