Daily Kos is a political blog. It is a Democratic political blog. We are here to rant about politics. We are here to discuss Democratic issues. We are here to organize, strategize and analyze. We are here to help elect Democratic politicians to offices throughout this great country.
Democrats come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. As Kos has said, this is a Democratic blog. It is not a liberal blog. It is not a progressive blog. It is not a moderate blog. It is not a DLC blog. It is not a NDN blog. It is not a DINO blog. It is not a Dean blog. It is not a Kerry blog. It is not a Clark blog. It is not a Edwards blog. It is not a Clinton blog. It is most fucking definitely not a Republican blog.
This is a Democratic blog. We are here to help Democratic candidates, whether they be liberal, progressive, moderate or conservative, get elected.
We can discuss as many issues as we want here. We can hold as many different positions on those issues as there are colors in the rainbow, so long as we recognize our primary purpose here. We are Democrats, here to further the cause of the Democratic Party.
I admire the hard work and dedication of those Kossacks who believed the election was stolen or tampered with and sought to prove it to us skeptics here on Daily Kos and in the country and party. Yours was the work of Angels. And today, your efforts paid off and your concerns were voiced in the wells of both chambers of Congress. But those electors were still certified. Bush was still declared officially the winner.
And, as expected, many among us launched recrimination upon recrimination against Democrats in the Senate, John Kerry and the Democratic Party in general. John Kerry has been called a pussy. His manhood, integrity and honor have been spat upon. Democrats, save Barbara Boxer, have been called spineless and weak. That's fine. Anger and disappointment are natural. Some Kossacks were very committed to and invested in Ohio and proving fraud there. And the hope that somehow they could overturn the election has been lost.
But now you all have a choice. You can turn your back on the Democratic Party and attack it and its members and elected officials as mercilessly as you attack Republicans. Or you can join the rest of us in reforming the Democratic Party, refining its message, and uniting in opposition to Bush and the Republican government.
If you choose the latter, your disagreements on issues and who should lead us are very welcome for that fosters debate, which can only stregthen us Democrats in fighting the Republicans. Indeed, stregthening the Democratic Party may indeed involve replacing the current crop in the Democratic leadership with new progressive reform minded Democrats. But we are still electing Democrats.
If you choose the former, I do not want you here. I dare say many will not want you here. Indeed, if you cannot commit to helping Democrats get elected, and instead wish to attack Democrats and prevent them from getting elected, then perhaps it is time for you to move on. The Internet, and the blogosphere is a very very large place, and I am sure there is a place for everyone. Recognize what Daily Kos is and what it is not.
So what is over is the offering of a free platform to those who attack Democrats above all else. Daily Kos is not a place to attack Democrats.
Daily Kos is not a place to organize the Green Party. Go form Daily Green if that is your intention, although I am sure Kos may sue you for copyright or trademark infringement.
That is all.
No it's not. I am fully aware that many of you will say that this is a loyalty oath reminiscent of March 2004. Damn straight. I am a Democrat. I am proud to be a Democrat. I will always be a Democrat. I will always vote Democratic. This is a Democratic blog. If you cannot be loyal at the very least to the Democratic Party on a Democratic blog, then get out.
And I speak only for myself here, and I am not sanctioned by any Front Pager or Kos.
