Atheist sues to prevent Bush from placing hand on Bible

Michael Newdow is at it again, poking the hornets nest that is the Religious Right. After unsucessfully attempting to have the words "Under God" taken back out of the pledge of alligence, he is now sueing to prevent Bush from placing his hand on the Bible during the swearing in cermony at the Presidential Inaguration. He has filed a motion and a complaint for preliminary injuction in the US District Court of D.C. seeking to remove all "Christian religious acts" from the January 20th event.

"It is an offense of the highest magnitude that the leader of our nation -- while swearing to uphold the Constitution -- publicly violates that very document upon taking his oath of office"

This lawsuit has a snowball's chance in hell of even being heard by a court under the Bush Adminstration. I applaud this effort on Newdow's part though. He is drawing the line in the sand and forcing a definition of seperation of Church and State. This could be the new litmus test of a judge to see which side of this issue they fall under.
