DC Debate, suggests that a dark horse for President Bush's Supreme Court nominee could be Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas. Cornyn, 53 years old, served on the Texas Supreme Court and is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He has been a high-profile White House loyalist, pushing the Owen's nomination in the spring and standing by Ms. Miers even when conservatives had turned on her.
"Mr. Cornyn's name has been floated occasionally as a potential candidate. But his stock could rise sharply now, since conservatives like him and Democrats probably wouldn't filibuster him. `The Senate traditionally does not devour its own,' noted Mr. Comiskey."
On second thought, he is a White, Male. That doesnt exactly add diversity.
