48% of women voted for George W. Bush. It was a high water mark for the GOP, better than W had done in 2000, way better than Dole, and definitely better than his father. The GOP, with its message of security and war, had convinced women that they would only be safe, if W is president.

Had women voted traditionally--that is, had women voted in the patterns they usually do, Kerry would have won. But in 2004, women felt that John Kerry wouldn't be good for them. Women felt George W. Bush would be good for them.

Today, women see one of the results of electing W.

Forget for a moment that Alito has voted that women cannot make decisions for themselves. Forget for a moment that Alito has said, indirectly, that a pregnant woman exists at the discretion of her husband, and not at her own discretion. Forget for a moment that Alito has said one thing and one thing sharply: Women are not full citizens in the United States of America.

Remember this: Women, are, and are only, because of men.

That is to say, whether you are wealthy woman, a woman with a good job, a woman with a good education, access to healthcare--or none of these things. You ARE because of men. Without men, you aren't. You aren't safe. You aren't citizens. You aren't deserving of rights nor freedoms. You aren't smart, nor diligent. You aren't ANYTHING. You are not.

48% of women voted to make themselves--not.

In history, I cannot think of a time where a minority, after being granted broad civil rights, volunteered its own repression. Women, in the United States of America, 2004...may be the first.
