It seems to me that we need to keep our focus on Treasongate. As Krugman has said very well, "illegal or not, outing a CIA operative is unpatriotic." (paraphrasing) We know she was outed, as well as her husband having told us the truth about the reasons for going to war in Iraq. Nominating Alito is from the Rove playbook to appease the radical religious right and rally them around Dubya. Meanwhile, activity was happening with some of the same Treasongate players in the Vice's office today. Why don't we focus on our own important issues that should be on the front page of every paper in the country.

Let's keep the focus and momentum on the lies and the totally unpatriotic behavior of those who outed Plame. We haven't been hitting the Downing Street Minutes and we should. It's all connected to the lies about going to war in Iraq. Don't get me wrong, I expect our elected officials to fight hard to be sure Alito gets sliced and diced during his confirmation hearings the way Harriet Miers would have been. Clearly, she was a battered SCOTUS nominee and Laura Bush said she believed "sexism" was at the bottom of what happened to her. Howard Dean agreed today on CNN. Moderate Republicans are not pleased with the appointment of Alito.

We can't let Treasongate off the front page of any paper or lead of any news program. Libby goes to court for the first time on Thursday. This is the story. The nomination of Alito needs to go to the backburner and be handled stealthily. We have to hold the Bush administration and their counterparts in the Congress accountable for the lies to go to war, the coverups and the unpatriotic actions of Rove and those players in Cheney's office. Bush has to be held to account as well. He at the very least was "upset" with Rove 2 years ago and still covered for him. His hands are not clean.
