Congress Sells Our Soul
My God, they managed to take ANWR from us. They attached the drilling to a defense bill that also called for Katrina aid (not as much as they are sending to Iraq however,) and made those against ANWR drilling feel compelled to vote for the bill.
Well, I tell you this: I would not have voted for this bill, and I would have plainly stated I voted against it because there was not enough put aside for Katrina victims (and we all know the Republicans don't care about these people and only added this to guilt others into voting for ANWR and for money to send to Iraq and Afghanistan) and because ANWR was attached to it. If Democrats don't start standing up like that, they will get EVERYTHING... Oh, wait, what am I saying? They already HAVE everything.
I have also made up my mind. Come the new year, I'm changing my Party affiliation to Independent. I can't in good conscience be a member of a Party that continues to give in to these Fascist crooks for all of the tough words they talk to keep people hanging on. And it isn't only because of this. I have been feeling this way since 2000, and cannot reconcile that crime and the loss of our Democracy and say I am still a Democrat or Republican, or a member of any major Party that continues to sell out our soul as a nation to the highest bidder.
I also posted a diary here last Friday morning that I subsequently took down, because there was more swacking at me being done than actually addressing what I wrote about...To follow up however, I had to erase my entire hard drive and start over for those interested. Regarding the other issues I mentioned, I will be taking action as well. Perhaps my PAC is on a Pentagon list somewhere too...I don't know why they bother if it is...It isn't going to shut me up...But I digress.
ANWR is lost, and I am heartbroken for those who will suffer the most for it... those species that cannot speak for themselves.
Damn all of those who put their greed before this country and this planet, and those who allow them to do so! How dare you all think you speak for us... You don't!
I also think I'm done with the political banter here and elsewhere for a while, but wanted to at least let my outrage and sadness be known about ANWR. So many have fought to keep it a pristine legacy for our children, and now look, attached to a F****G defense bill and taken in the dead of night by these lying thieves...And Bush is now getting praised for his "candor" about Iraq...And people continue to just talk... and watch Jib Jab's latest video about the last Bush year. Sorry, that just seems very bizarre to me. People who torture, lie, cheat, steal, and kill, and the only chastisement they get is in a parody video... And ANWR is gone.
