I have a very simple question to throw out to the masses (if anyone's reading my diary, that is). We've seen the pendulum swing back towards the GOP, where the same ol' song and dance of an interest group-run party becomes full of corruption and greed, eventually and ultimately doing itself in. It's not difficult to predict the end of days for the GOP running all 3 branches of government; history has a rather strange way of repeating itself.
My question is a question for the future of the Democrats - are you willing to learn the lessons from the past and not repeat them when you do come back into majority power? Will you learn not just from your own past mistakes from the '70's and '80's, but from the GOP party who's undergoing the same fate as you once did? When you come back to power under the message of "reform", will you keep your word to represent the common citizen?
Or is man just to incapable to handle such power, and just simply cannot overcome the greed that comes from attaining too much of it? Will we ever have a real system of checks and balances that can prevent such power grabbing occurrences?
