I, like many others, have ranted and raged, gnashed my teeth over the duplicity of the R's and the willingness of 60 million people to believe them. Why, oh why, do they not see? It's the RWCM. It's Karl Rasputin Rove, It's the messianic delusions of the religious fundies. It's the opiate of popular culture and rampant consumerism.
It's all of these and more. Still, I want them exposed. I want the scales to fall from their eyes and to know this emperor wears no clothes. Or at least that the ones he wears are filthy rags.
Earlier today, I posted the following comment:
I've been trying to think of things that the Dems could come up with to force Repugs to show their true colors, particularly their racist ones.
Let the R's try to explain why they oppose slavery reparations. Or emergency services for undocumented aliens. How about making Ramadan a national holiday? How about mass refugee relocation to the US for displaced Palestinians?
It elicited two* responses:
That would pretty much hand the gop the 2006 election.
And
Laugh of the Day
Surely, this post was not intended to be taken seriously
*actually three, it did get one "4" rating
However, it was about as serious as a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage or an attorney general who condones torture and believes that the President is above the law.
It also got me thinking. I used to believe that the Democrats were about the long view, and Republicans about short-term gains. After all, isn't that what programs like Social Security and Head Start are all about--the future? Now it's looking like it's the R's who have had the long-term planning and we've keep trying to play catch-up.
What does winning mean? 2006? 2008? Or 2020?
The poll below has only two choices on purpose. Probably most will not like either choice. But, if you had to choose between these two, which would it be?
