Squash the nomination, that is.
Just do it. Now. Speak from your heart and head -- be kind, be real, ask for help, be persuasive.
Bolton -- what's your story? Did you for/with an abusive person? Were you married to one? Yaknow how you NEVER forget? Because it makes your whole life miserable, even if "just" boss or co-worker?
Well, who's pivitol to squashing this nomination now? I just read an article on Truthout which pointed to one person who may be pivitol.
So I took time to write Sen. Pryor and ask him to NOT support Bolton. Previously, I wrote Voinovich and asked him to continue to oppose Bolton.
Who can you write? My letter as sample on the flip. (Gawd, be less wordy than me, OK?)
Honorable Senator Pryor,
I read this online, if you find the wording offensive, I highly apologize, I didn't write it. :
"But one of the three Democrats who sided with them on an unsuccessful "cloture" vote on May 26, Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.), said he may abandon the Republicans..."
Sir, I was born and raised in Kansas, and have relatives there, and in Arkansas, and the greater midwest. I may live in WA now, but hope to retire in a smaller, nicer area. I don't know if that gives me any more credibility, I'm just hoping so.
Sir, I had a boss like Bolton. He made the lives of all 20-30 people who worked for him intolerable. Of course, our families suffered also. This went on for years, with Personnel Department ignoring our pleas for relief. That was in the 1980's, and trust me, just seeing a few video clips of Bolton when angry tells me he is that exact same type of person. This is something you never forget.
Senator Pryor, I think this is the last person we want representing our country in any capacity. Outside of the negative impact on his co-workers or inferiors, people who rule from their tempers are vindictive, mean, hold a grudge, and go out of their way to harm people they've decided they don't like. Trust me, an organization with such a person at it's helm is a disaster through and through.
People like that are utterly incapable of performing in a manner that others would think of as positively. It's like letting a 2-year-old who's the terror of the sandbox loose on the adult world -- that's all the maturity these people have. And you can't do an adult job with that lack of maturity.
It is NEVER an accident when you find numbers of people willing to testify that a person like this is a terror, is a "kiss-up, kick-down" type of person. If the individual is NOT like that -- no one comes forward and says that! If they're like that, they're a train wreck waiting to happen, day in and day out, careening about their little territory, driving people nuts, and doing little to nothing than pursuing vendettas.
Senator Pryor, you don't know me, but please trust me, I worked under someone like this for 4 years, I lived this.
Sir, have you seen the clip of Bolton at a meeting getting red in the face practically yelling about how the UN is irrelevant? Bolton says, "and if you don't like it, tough, because that's just how it is!" I hope you'll have a staffer find it and view it. This is in a diplomatic meeting -- and is followed by someone apologizing for his behavior to the group.
We Americans may like or dislike the UN. I don't care about that -- people are free to have any opinion on that spectrum as far as I'm concerned. But to send a person like Bolton to represent us there is an utter mistake.
Thank you, Senator Pryor, for considering my views.
