saying. I went over to Booman and the women who left Dkos are talking about why they left.
This issue has apparently been festering for some time and it has really nothing to do with the add.
The issue is about abortion rights and I don't think kos appreciates how upset women were when he discussed "single issue voters" and reframing the abortion issue as a privacy issue.
More below the fold:
It seems that women feel that their voices are not being heard and that the most important issues to women such as abortion rights and access to contraception are not being taken seriously.
kos's flipent response to the latest issue seemed to give some of these women the impression that kos nor this community cares about womens issues with abortion rights being the primary issue.
Here is what Lorraine wrote at Booman:
"I know that some people don't understand why some of us are so fucking angry at Kos right now that we can't see straight.
It's not about the fucking ad. It's about the fact that those of us who think that there will be no politics to fight about if we don't protect the right to privacy have been told repeatedly that our issues don't matter. That we should be patient, get in line, wait our turn."
I hope everyone here can appreciate the frustration that some of these folks are feeling and regardless of your view on abortion rights this is clearly a very personal and emotional issue for women.
In the latest Rassmussen poll Bush has an approval rating of 49% with 51% of men approving the job that Bush is doing and 47% of women.
What this means is that Democrates need both men and women and must break even with men and get a slight majority of women to be successful.
The Democratic party clearly can not afford to ignore any part of the larger coalition.
I hope those who have left are willing to come back and have a frank thought provoking conversation about the issues that effect all of us in this great country.
