In San Diego County, State Senator Bill Morrow's "public forum" for immigrant bashing has been reinstated for Thursday, August 11. Morrow's legal action to force the Carslbad school district to allow him to use public facilities for his one sided show forced district Superintendent John Roach to reverse his earlier decision and allow Morrow to use the facility. The
North County Times reports in a story today.
"Governments cannot allow generalized fears of what might happen to intimidate them into restricting free speech, said Terry Francke, general counsel for Californians Aware, the Center for Public Forum Rights. Francke also served as general counsel for the California First Amendment Coalition, a nonprofit corporation that defends the public's right to participate in government."
We have written extensively about Morrow's campaign rally and one-side forum, but in the end Morrow's right to 1st Ammendment protection was more compelling than the threat of violence. We have to remember that the radical right is more than willing to hide behind the Constitution while working to destroy it.
