the GOP in an emergency

I've read about the problems facing the folks affected by Katrina. The depth of the situation--how it requires emergency plans, rescue people, healthcare people, police/national guard to keep order...not to mention food, water,shelter and the eroding conditions already of people that are well enough to see whats happening.

In an emergency, it is natural to look to leadership. Look around. The GOP run the show here. How are they doing in this emergency? And no, this isnt a media-fest free pass that bush got on 9-11. He'll be judged now on what he does and not what we pretend he does. What is the GOP REALLY made of?

A nurse said she was robbed at gunpoint, as she exited a hospital to take a break. Why? B/c the national guard was needed at a prisoner uprising, so they pulled them from the streets where she got robbed.

Hospitals are flooding and there's no power so you can imagine what that means to desperately ill patients. Some, say U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt, will be evacuated to somewhere else. Where? Not known.

The president did a fly-by, is a matter of moral leadership. I'm not sure if the people of new orleans noticed.

We know city infrastructure has failed b/c the GOP invests in war, not cities. But we didnt think it'd be this bad. Did we?

CNN leads with "its like a third world country" ..it is. Not because of the hurricane. Because of the leadership. Corrupt. Unaccountable leadership. Its like a third world country b/c the vast majority of people dont matter, in the eyes of our government.

This is the GOP in an emergency. Any questions?
