One of the reasons why the looming replacement of Patrick Fitzgerald's boss is something to worry about is because the Bush Administration has a history of zapping Federal prosecutors working on cases that might endanger close friends of BushCo:

A U.S. grand jury in Guam opened an investigation of controversial lobbyist Jack Abramoff more than two years ago, but President Bush removed the supervising federal prosecutor and the inquiry ended soon after.

One thing in our favor: The difference between then and now is that more people are paying attention -- and with Air America and the rise of the liberal side of the blogosphere, we're in a much better position to get the word out.
