According to the latest Survey USA Poll (which btw cautions that the race for mayor is fluid), Donna Frye has taken a 1% lead, 49%-48%. Given the fact that the very same poll showed Frye down 10% a little less than a month ago, this is great news. Now by no means is Frye solidly leading, she may even be behind due to the margin of error. However, it is very important to note that she is gaining momentum and is still in this race.
One of the reasons that she may be gaining momentum is because she has actually produced a comprehensive economic and government reform package. While she has often been accused of lacking substance and being nothing but an overly liberal, ditzy, hippie, surfer chick, she is the only one to have actually produced any plan that is substanative for reforming the local government of San Diego. She may be a hippie, surfer chick but she's a hippie surfer chick who's on the ball and not a lightweight.
You gain more in depth knowledge of her extensive plans by visiting her website at

Her website also reports that she is receiving the endorsements of aSan Diego small businesses groups and a San Diego Woman's Business organization. I'm glad to see she's appealing to as many groups as possible.
Oh and I almost forgot, here's the poll:
