Who's lobbying for the Amercian People?

I have keeping up with the Abramoff scandal for some time now, but feel that there is an area of this scandal that has not been covered. Who is lobbying for us? I mean the average American citizen that votes these politicians into office. No one, save Ted Kennedy briefly today on some sound bite, has covered the fallout and repercussions for the American People. What bills have been passed that were the direct result of illegal lobbying practices that have had a direct negative effect on the poor and elderly? The Medicare funding cuts? The heating oil cuts? Who on Capital Hill is looking out for the interests of the people that voted them into office? Does my vote even count?
