If you read my last diary entry
, you know I'm supposed to go before a group of St. Louis politicos tomorrow and try to sell them on supporting Dean. (If you haven't read it, please go there and give me a hand. I'm still scribbling furiously at the speech with my red pencil.)
Moments ago, I got a call in which I heard that Gephardt might be announcing an endorsement of Kerry. This follows reports that Edwards has glomed onto most of Gep's previous campaign staff, so I'm not sure I buy it. If true, it will go a long way toward giving Kerry the support he needs in MO -- and make my job tomorrow one heck of a lot tougher.
Remember: just because the press is focused on South Carolina, Missouri is the real plum on Feb. 3. It's a swing state and it's carrying the largest chunk of delegates.
