Of course, all the stories lead off with the Washington Times calling for Hastert's head on a platter:

Mr. Hastert has forfeited the confidence of the public and his party, and he cannot preside over the necessary coming investigation, an investigation that must examine his own inept performance.

Damn straight! Throw him under the bus -- if he'll fit.

Hastert's office responds:

The Speaker is working everyday on ensuring the House is a safe, productive environment for Members, staff and all those who are employed by the institution.

Right. That's why you let a pedophile have free reign with Congressional pages.

Even David Bossie, right-wing hack, is calling for Hastert's resignation.

Family Research Council's Tony Perkins warns that Republican turnout will be harmed. What? No concern for the children?

The Times suggests that there are other pages who have additional, um, IMs to share.

Roberta Combs, head of the Christian Coalition, expresses "disappointment" with Foley and the GOP's House leadership. What? No concern for the .... oh never mind.

Tom McClusky of the Family Research Center is willing to let it slide, but warns, "If more is found out, that's when I think people should start calling for his head." Absolutely, positively that will be the last straw! Carry on.

The Chicago Tribune asks some tough questions about what Reps. Boehner, Alexander, and Reynolds did.

The Kansas City Star reports that Rep. Roy Blunt's spokesman suggests he knew nothing until ABC broke the story.

The Post suggests that the Republicans could lose the following seats for sure: Foley (FL-16), DeLay (TX-22), Ney (OH-18), Sherwood (PA- 10), Kolbe (AZ- 08) and Hostettler (IN-08). Even Chairman Reynolds (NY-26) could be at risk.

That reminds me -- anyone remember who was the last sitting Speaker of the House to lose his seat in an election? No fair googling!
