I've had to live with the fact that the FOX News Channel exists solely to jam an icepick into my eye. AND that CNN's superfluous Headline News Channel hired Glenn Beck in a deplorable move to steal some of that inane "thunder." AND that I have to stare at Glenn Beck's poserific mug at the bottom right corner of my screen as I write my entry on this very Daily Kos page, all of which gnaws incessantly on my shiny happy person.
That I now have to listen to CNN and Headline News tell me how deplorable Michael Richards' comments are when they employ Glenn Beck to routinely spew the same racist shit is more gnawing than I can handle.
Where was the outrage on these channels when smarm-merchant Beck assaulted Representative-elect Keith Ellison (D-MN), a black Muslim, and the first Muslim ever elected to Congress, last week with this noxious epithet?
"I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."
Beck has also said plenty in the past, before CNN hired him, including calling people stuck in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina "scumbags", adding, "I didn't think I could hate victims faster than the 9-11 victims."
We now have to accept Headline News Channel's implication that Beck's racist comments on a nationwide primetime, family hour, basic-cable news channel are tolerable while Richards losing it at hecklers in an L.A. comedy club are not!!
I want the rotting carcass of Glenn Beck's television career nailed to the same wall of shame as oxymoron Rush Limbaugh's nasty hide, if there's any room left, and CNN, you are now beyond contempt, you are hypocritical and harboring racism and from what I can tell, proud of it.
CNN, take a page from the Laugh Factory's book:
"For 28 years the Laugh Factory has prided itself on being the only club that guaranteed laughter. On Friday night the club exercised that pledge and refunded money to its patrons for the first time. We are truly sorry for what happened. This is a comedy club and while we have always supported the comics' first amendment rights, we have done so with the understanding that they were exercising that right in an effort to be funny.
We do not support or condone the inappropriate, hurtful and offensive comments that Mr. Richards made on Friday night at the Laugh Factory.
Mr. Richards was scheduled to appear on Saturday night and had informed management of his intention to apologize for his hurtful and unprofessional outburst from the previous night. He failed to do so and disappointed us.
We have made it clear that Mr. Richards is no longer welcomed here. The Laugh Factory is a comedy club not a forum for personal attacks."
This is how you treat a racist, your move CNN.
