When I heard that conditions like Sen. Johnson's could be caused by hypertension, it made me feel very, very lucky and fortunate.
Just over two years ago, when I went to my dentist's office to get some work done, the nurse took my blood pressure. The result was disastrous-- well over 200 over 100, and the dentist recommended that I go to the hospital immediately.
I was shocked. I checked it again and again. Still the same results, but finally, I was brought by ambulance to the hospital when I was given some medication and released.
The pressure hasn't been nearly as high since that scary reading, but I have to still take medication to keep things regulated (and combine that with diet and exercise).
I've been blessed to have had someone make me aware of my condition before it could have made things worse (or even kill me), and when I heard the news about Sen. Johnson, it made me feel this way-- I also could have had the same fate if someone didn't catch my hypertension before it could do some big-time damage.
I wish Sen. Johnson well in his recovery, and I sure hope these media idiots who dream of Republicans back in charge of the Senate are driven to disappointment when (hopefully) Johnson returns to the Senate chamber and votes to put Democrats in control.
