When I penned (so to speak) my original diatribe against Wonkette the other day, I had no idea it would raise such a furor. Although I'm no journalist I decided I couldn't rest until I had gotten to the bottom of the episode and maybe practice just a little journalistic integrity in the process. Just because...you know...it has been so neglected up to this point...
So moving on, what I have discovered and What It All Means.
What I have discovered:
The artist responsible for the artwork appears to be Chris Gall. I haven't yet confirmed this, but have e-mailed him and await the reply.
He is credited with this image,
(I'm sure you recognize Hillary) so it seems a very safe bet.
Thanks a million to Pudge!
This interesting quote from the California concealed carry message board, by a self-proclaimed Wonkette editor:
"If the Admin will contact me, I'll send him / her the entire PDF as I received it from an anonymous DC tipster. (We get everything from anonymous DC tipsters. We say what it's supposed to be and let the reader and other media figure it out -- like the Mark Foley emails, which we ran before ABC News did, because an anonymous tipster sent them to us.)"
Again, not actually confirmed, but since he's the original source for my copy, it seems a very safe bet. And if so, I'd like to ask Ken to please include words like "purportedly" every now and then when you use an anonymous source without confirmation.
Greetings and gratitude to the good folks over there at Cccw.
Which brings me to the main exhibit:
The pamphlet itself.

There it is in all it's insane glory! Terrorist chickens, gangstas throwing up shockers and all.
Suffice it to say that this is far enough over the top that I will be leaving the NRA.
But there is one thing that's missing: The insane racist, jew-baiting, paranoid overtones displayed in the
original article over on Wonkette.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the pamphlet doesn't come across as anything like what they've portrayed it as when you read it. Perhaps that's why they didn't...you know... post it. Or maybe they're afraid that you might actually think about the points presented within?
Anyway, compare the actual pamphlet with it's gross misrepresentation on Wonkette and draw your own conclusions. I certainly have.
