HEADS UP HESIOD! Orrin Hatch Allied with Iraq Swift Boaters

Y'all remember Hesiod's stellar work last week in bulldogging the Iraq Swift Boaters (aka the "Progress for America Voter Fund") and their bogus TV ads, right?

Y'all know that these ads, whose basic claim is that Saddam=Osama, are being tested in Minnesota prior to being retooled for nationwide release, right?

What you don't know is that Orrin Hatch is helping to prepare the ground for them nationally. Go get 'em, Hesiod! (More after the jump.)

As Think Progress (via Atrios) notes this morning, Orrin Hatch is pimping the long-discredited "Saddam helped Osama blow up the WTC" myth. This is a deliberate GOP strategy being used to revive the old Saddam=Osama lie in time for the November mid-terms.

Remember, as Hesiod showed us last week, lie-filled TV ads by Bush buddies in the "Progress for America Voter Fund" are being road-tested in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area prior to retooling for a nationwide audience. The ads are so bad that one local TV station refuses to air them.

I'm betting that Orrin Hatch's simultaneous efforts to revive the Saddam=Osama lie mean that the nationwide ad rollout is imminent. It's probably a good idea to send some preemptive phone calls/e-mails to your local and national TV stations/networks, as well as to those TV stations in the Twin Cities (namely, KARE and WCCO) that still are running the ads despite their being debunked to hell and back.
