WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Two teams of government investigators using fake documents were able to enter the United States with enough radioactive sources to make two dirty bombs, according to a federal report made available Monday.
The investigators purchased a "small quantity" of radioactive materials from a commercial source while posing as employees of a fictitious company and brought the materials into the United States through checkpoints on the northern and southern borders, according to a Government Accountability Office report prepared for Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Chairman Norm Coleman, a Minnesota Republican.
"It's just an indictment of the system that it's easier to get radiological material than it is to get cold medicine," said a senior subcommittee staffer about the findings.
A system that Republicans are in charge of.
This begs the question: What exactly has the Bush Administration and their Republican minions in Congress been doing all this while after 9/11, besides repeating the phrase 9/11 ad naseaum?
Have they protected the ports?
No.
Have they secured our borders?
No.
Have they improved airline security?
No, they have just prevented Ted Kennedy from flying anywhere without a hassle.
Have they prevented dirty bomb material from entering the U.S.?
No.
It is an outright miracle of God that we have not been hit by an terrorist attack since 9/11. It is now obvious it has had nothing to do with what the Bush Administration and their Republican minions in Congress have done. Indeed, Republicans, due to their incompetence, inaction, and dereliction of duty, have made us less secure from terrorist attack than ever before in our history.
