Because it is already illegal. Immigrating illegally to this country is illegal. Duh. So why do we need new laws to say so.
All we have to do to end illegal immigration is enforce the laws we have, and if we do not have the manpower to do so, then we have to provide more funding and manpower.
I know I oppose making it a felony to help out illegal immigrants, just because that is anti-compassion. Hillary Clinton was actually right on this, as it is anti-Christian. Passing such a law would make it illegal to be a good samaritan.
I know I oppose wasting money by building a fence. Because it is not practical, and I don't like the image. We exist to break down walls, like the Berlin Wall, not erect them.
I know I oppose overburdening our National Guard by sending them on yet another fruitless mission to patrol the border. I mean, how is it that the National Guard is supposed to secure the border when they are not armed? This reminds me of a Robin Williams joke about the British police not having guns: When a bobbie sees a criminal, he yells "Stop! Or.... I shall yell Stop again!"
I know I oppose amnesty, or a guest worker program, or providing any easier way to become a citizen for people who are only here because they came here illegally. Make no mistake, by doing this, we award cheating. We reward the breaking of our laws. We set a precedent that tells the world that all you have to do to become a U.S. citizen is just get here illegally. Amnesty, or anything like it, will increase illegal immigration.
I believe most Kossacks probably feel this way. But maybe not, and I look forward to your comments telling me why. But no matter, I do know that most Americans feel this way. As polls have shown.
The simplest solution to the illegal immigration debate is to increase funding to the INS and manpower to the border patrol so that we can secure our border, and to enforce the laws we have and deport all of those who are here illegally. That is the punishment for immigrating to our country illegally. You get sent back unless you can claim some sort of political or religious asylum.
If the Democrats just simply stick to these solutions, we win this issue, in my opinion.
But what are your thoughts?
Where are we on Immigration?
