We have done what was considered impossible just a few months ago. Back then, Lamont was just a "nobody" who had little chance of beating Lieberman. But because Kossacks believed in him, and because Lieberman revealed his true colors by announcing his petition drive to run Indy, Lamont won.
While tonight should be seen as a great victory for us, those so-called "angry Democrats," CT-Sen CANNOT and should not be our first priority for this election cycle. I can almost guarantee you that the winner of the general election will either be Democrat Ned Lamont, or "Independent Democrat" Joe Lieberman (who still plans to caucus with the Democrats, albeit with the ability to bust Reid's balls if his vote could swing control of the Senate.) The Republican candidate, Alan Scheslinger, is a gambling deadbeat who can't poll more than 18%-20% of the vote. If anything, *he's* the spoiler of this race - for Lieberman!
Lamont himself is also loaded with his own money. Our donations should be going to candidates who have a shot of winning and need cash - like [http://www.webbforsenate.com/home.php Jim Webb] or [http://www.testerforsenate.com/ Jon Tester.]
I propose, despite the intense interest in this race on Daily Kos, to give CT-Sen a back seat in the order of strategic priorities.
(On edit: I am NOT advocating abandoning this race. I want to see Lamont win and he will get my support.)
