I was walking into my favorite beanslinger's this morning to have a pre-work cup of java, newspaper under my arm. I live in a heavily conservative area of southern California.
I like to scan the editorials/letters for how our local reactionaries try to rewrite history every day, claiming nothing that has ever happened is W's fault (in a cool moment, on of them called me an "anarchist" in response to a letter I wrote accusing the Prezdint of lying, and said I should be "thrown in jail". Heh heh heh).
I noticed the newpaper machine bank had an interesting juxtapostion...the North County Times (small local paper) had a headline: "Allies Vows to Finish the Job in Iraq" with a lighter subhead "But Spain pulling out" or something along those lines and a picture of the new Spanish PM.
The San Diego Union-Tribune had "Incoming Spanish Leader Vows to Bring Troops Home from Iraq".
The LA Times, at the end of the row, said "Spanish Victor says Iraq War Based on Lies".
Ssssslightly different takes on the same news, wouldn't ya say?
