There are two things we can tell from this article, the headline of which was displayed in large font, very prominently on the CBS.com webpage last night.
First, our questions are being asked by the MSM three days after the netroots answers them.
Second, the implication of the CBS headline is that Bush's war in Iraq has reached such a low point that the media feels comfortable enough to conclude that the public has turned against the war, that they can use the Iraq-gone-bad conclusion to anchor their stories on other matters, i.e., the situation in Lebanon. The frame for this article therefore represents the conclusion that the media has made about the American people's solidifying consensus opinion on Iraq. This is a good sign for the Left, as it indicates that the mainstream media is in agreement with us on the issue... i.e., that it was a bad idea to provoke the war AND that it's become a quagmire AND that they are assuming most of their audience to have reached this conclusion. It's almost as if the classic "Another Vietnam" phrase will now have an Iraqi equivalent to stand alongside it; "Another Iraq" could become just as famous, powerful, and lasting as an antiwar slogan. This could bode well for the peace movement the next time around.
Iraq, Vietnam, and Lebanon: where the international Goliaths get their asses handed to them by the local Davids.

Irrelevant sidebar: one hundred years ago, I wonder if anyone in the world could have predicted that in 2006, a young liberal in America would be writing a "weblog" about how he perceives the state of Israel as a Goliath-type figure in the Middle East.
I wonder what 2106 will be like.

One last thing... if you browsed through this article expecting me to give you some valuable information about the Lebanese-Israeli conflict, sorry. I have no solutions or insight to offer (unlike this poll gauging Lebanese support for Hezbollah or Alexander's diary about Israel's ineffective use of air power).
