Well, this is really encouraging. I'm down at the gunshop putting some guns on
Gunsamerica. It was high end gun day; I was listing a $3195 Caesar Guerini 12 gauge and really beautiful SigArms X5 9mm for $2195. A guy was in the shop picking up a Beretta 92F 9mm and a stainless Super Nova 12 gauge(must be getting ready for the revolution.) We started to talk about guns and calibers.
While we were waiting for his background check to clear, the topic of conversation moved to the latest terror alert. I mentioned that I had read that a number of the guys arrested didn't even have passports. He said he'd read the same thing and he had also read that British intelligence wanted to wait on the arrests, but that Bush had pushed the British to make the arrests earlier than they wanted to.
I fiegned ignorance and asked, "Why do you think they pushed the British to make the arrests?"
His answer stunned me. "Because of the election." You can fish for answers like this, but it has only been in the last few months that I have started to get answsers like this at the guns shop or at the shooting competitions that I attend.
I asked, "You think Bush is politizing the war on terror?"
"Hell Ya, we haven't had a terror alert since '04 and my guess is they know they're in deep shit."
"You think the Republicans are in trouble?"
"I know they are. I haven't voted for a Democrat since the 70s and I'm voting for Angie Paccione. I hear she is okay on guns and she can't be any worse that Marilyn."
"Yea, I like my Democrat, Mark Udall. He seems to do a good job for the district."
"I can't believe that I am going to vote for a Democrat."
"It's okay, I won't tell.
We're going to win. The unaffiliated voters are awake. We need to keep up the pressure. We will stop BushCO.
