This is from the press advisory my office just sent out this afternoon:
Washington, DC - Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY-28), Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee, will today be joined by Rep. Bill Pascrell (NJ-8), a member of the Homeland Security Committee and a former high school teacher, to call for Scholastic Inc. and ABC to keep the upcoming, and already challenged, docudrama The Path to 9-11 out of America's classrooms.
Scholastic is currently planning on shopping the docudrama to as many as 100,000 teachers, and has already produced lesson plans containing questionable information and analysis.
Yes, we have heard that ABC has already agreed to run a disclaimer during the airing of this film.
But that's not enough.
And we certainly don't agree with ABC's assertion that critcisms of this film are 'Premature and Irresponsible'
We will try to do everything in our capacity to call on Scholastic and ABC to keep this docudrama out of our schools.
I have got to go right now. I will be doing a number of media appearances keeping up the pressure. I will be appearing on CNN's "Showbiz Tonight" which will be aired on Headline News later tonight to voice my strong concerns about this film.
Please keep up the great work here.
Its working!
