John Campbell, (R, CA-48) just sent out an email blast with the Republican talking points for Bush's Iraq speech. He states "There is no guarantee that this strategy will work." To me, the Republican strategy is not a "surge," it is "Stay the Course Grande." Same old strategy plus more of our sons and daughters in harm's way.
Now we have proof this is just a grand "experiment" for Bush. How many more American children must die for a president who has no idea what he is doing?
My opponent in the November 2006, elections, John Campbell (R, CA-48), just sent out a pre-speech email with the Republican talking points. It states,
There is no guarantee that this strategy will work, and if it doesn’t we have to be willing to modify the strategy again to ensure victory because failure is not an option.
I guess "Stay the Course" proved an unsalable way for the administration to sell this escapade. Has anyone noticed that escalating troop levels is "Stay the Course Grande"? More soldiers, more American deaths.
The email continues,
We have been warned that if we don’t succeed in Iraq it will become even more of a haven for terrorist than it currently is. Further warnings indicate that a destabilized Iraq without assistance from the U.S. could lead to ethnic warfare and genocide on a scale larger than that of the on going situation in the Sudan. I know this issue has greatly divided our country, but I hope we can at least unify to ensure the right decisions are made now and we don’t leave Iraq in such a state.
This is from the same guy who repeatedly said on the campaign trail, "Baghdad is safer than Washington, D.C." When will these myopic warmongers wake up?
