And this very open platform attracts a wide range of views and ideas. Often times, there are conflicting and opposing views shared amongst Kossacks in diaries.
Now, this is going to sound odd coming from me, but I think I have finally seen the light. And I realize that simply because you disagree with an idea expressed by another Kossack in a diary does not mean that that diary doesn't have a right to exist. It doesn't mean that the Kossack you disagree with does not have the right to voice his or her opposing view.
Please, lift your jaw up off the floor. Wipe that shocked look off your face. In the past, I have been known as a fierce SYFPH advocate and anti-Purist crusader. And I have preached unity among us and derided those who didn't agree.
But my epiphany has been building over the last few months. It broke through today as I told an anti-religion Kossack that he or she did not have to read a supposedly offending diary concerning religion. This Kossack opposed all discussion of religion in both the Democratic party and at Daily Kos in general. Indeed, I believe he or she said said they wanted to disavow us deluded faithful of our belief in imaginary sky fairies. I told him or her quite emphatically that no one was forcing religion upon him or her, and no one was forcing him or her to read the diary in the first place.
So, if that is true, that no one is forcing that person to read a religion diary also means no one is forcing me to read an idiotic IMPEACH BUSH RIGHT NOW THIS VERY MINUTE OR PELOSI IS EVIL diary.
Sure, I will still voice my opinions that such thoughts are idiotic, as I am sure another Kossack will voice their disagreements with religion. But when I get exasperated at a diary and its presence in the recent diary list, I will simply remember that I am not being forced to read it.
I think a lot of people will benefit from following that advice as well.
