We can encourage all the candidates to have campaign blogs and white papers. The big question that must be asked over and over again is what would you do about X, where X is any issue that is of concern to you. Read the candidates positions and criticize them. And keep asking the candidates.
Next, encourage the candidates to set up blogs and RSS feeds. There are some fine ones out there already. Join them. Ask for more details, about your favorite issue. Basically get the candidates to talk about what is important to them and why. Get the candidates to know you are judging them, based first on their willingness to respond, second their position, third their willingness to listen to you, fourth their willingness to change when presented with new facts.
Compare notes across candidates. Who cares what the flavor of the candidate of the month is. Let candidate W know candidate P has a position on issue X which is important to you and dammit, you will not support a candidate who will not publish a position on issue X.
Use the candidates blogs, use TruthTown, use other web sites. Hell we are going to be the best, but use them all. Let candidate P know you are pissed she / he kicked you off their blog and you are telling the world about it. Let candidate M know you going to spread the word on her position or lack thereof to the world.
In summary the Internet is becoming a powerful tool, so let us use the Internet to influence events; or as the little old lady said as she pissed into the sea - every drop counts. Remember the way to tell the adults from the children is the adults piss down wind.
