So, now Democrats in Congress have to decide whether they will capitulate once again to the Worst President Ever, who has little support among the American people. Will they make us look ridiculous again, or will they finally take good advice and fight this President?
We all remember John Edwards calls during the last supplemental vote for Democrats to stand strong and not cave in to Bush. Well, they ignored this good advice and instead capitulated to the disgust of us all. Now, Edwards is once again calling for Congress to do its duty and fight for the American people and our troops. Will they listen? Here is Edwards statement on President George W. Gump asking for $40 billion:
"Today President Bush will ask for another $46 billion from Congress to fund operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. This request comes on top of his original request for $140 billion and confirms that his administration is pressing on with the only Iraq strategy it has ever had—more time, more troops and more war.
"Enough is enough. The American people voted for change last November and now, almost a year later we still have the status quo. Once and for all Congress must stand up to President Bush and pass a funding bill with a timetable for withdrawal. If the president vetoes that bill, Congress must send it back, again and again, as many times as it takes for the president to finally get the message that he can't defy the American people. Every member of Congress who believes this war must end has the moral responsibility to use every tool available to them, including a filibuster, to send the president one simple message: No timeline, no funding. No excuses."

Yes Sen. Edwards enough is enough. Enough has been enough for a long time now. Congress needs to get a backbone and fight the President on this. Congress must vote funds to keep this war going without a timeline, and to do so is a betrayal of the trust given them by our party last year. Yes, a betrayal of us all. John Edwards has got it right.
To hear a little of John Edwards vision for ending Iraq, watch this video:
John Edwards learned his lesson. Hillary Clinton did not. That is never more painfully evident than her vote to give the most psychotic President in our history the chance to beat the war drums with Iran. Well, Democrats everywhere are scratching their heads about that one, and Hillary has felt compelled to defend that vote in Iowa. Edwards campaign was quick to respond:
"This morning we see that Senator Clinton is defending her vote to declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. She was entitled to her vote just like she's entitled to defend it. The problem is her explanation to Iowa voters is different than her explanation to the New York Times. Her backers told the New York Times that her vote was about shifting from primary election mode to general election mode. Now she's telling Iowans something different. Apparently she has an Iowa mode and a Washington mode too.
"We have already seen the devastating consequences of triangulation and manipulation in Iraq. Particularly on the critical challenge on Iran, where the administration appears to be readying the guns of war, Democrats deserve a nominee who only has one mode - and that's ‘telling the truth’ mode."

I couldn't agree more. Senator Clinton thinks she already has this nomination wrapped up, so she wants to position herself closer to the Republicans on Iran. God knows why. Does she think she can take the Democratic voters who don't support war for granted? Will she play to us in the primary and then in the general consider us left wing loones?
I agree with John Edwards. We simply can't have a candidate who talks differently in the primary and general. We have a chance to achieve real Progressive change in this country, and we don't need a candidate who is lukewarm to that. John Edwards is the candidate who is telling us the truth and plans to fight for us in the White House. He doesn't have a "primary mode" for us, and a "general mode" for everyone else. To see Edwards straight talk on Iran, Iraq and other issues watch this video:
Despite what the polls say, we have one candidate who is determined to give the Democratic Party and backbone and fight for our ideals. That candidate is John Edwards. He has led with ideas this whole primary, and hasn't sunk away from Progressive vision. He respects our ideals, and isn't constantly looking for a reason to back away from them. Polls have shown across the board against Republican candidates, he is the most electable nationwide.
If you want to know why I support Edwards so ardently, it is because he is the candidate that supports us without shame or fear. To me, that is a lot more important than who can raise the most money from Chinese dishwashers!!!
