Excuse me, I am wrong. They can be found. Hiding in the ally. Under the table. Behind the curtain. Afraid of the bully.
Speaker Pelosi. Over 80% of us disapprove of your job performance. It is because you do not have our backs.
Majority Leader Reid. I hear you used to be a prize fighter. I think that is a lie. For you do not fight for us. And that is why you are roundly disapproved of here and around the nation.
Democrats in Congress. You are approved of by 11% of Americans. Why? Because like a little weakling kid afraid of having his lunch money taken or being beaten up by the school yard bully, you find ways to capitulate to the most unpopular and worst President in all history.
The public disapproves because 1) it did not elect you to a majority to compromise with or capitulate to Bush and 2) it does not respect weaknesses in its leaders, and that is all you have displayed.
The American people want to end this war. The American people do not want to go to war in Iran. The American people want health insurance for their kids. The American people want to make a phone call without having the government listen in. The American people expect their fundamental rights to privacy and constitutional freedoms to be protected by those pledged to protect them.
You are pledged to protect those rights and freedoms. You are pledged to uphold the Constitution, not tear it up. You are pledged to fight Bush, not give in to him. You are pledged to end this war, not compromise with Bush.
The reason we strongly disapprove of you, Speaker Pelosi, Leader Reid and Democrats in Congress, is because we know, and the American people now know, that when push comes to shove, we cannot count on you to have our backs.
Sure, you talk a good game. And you have shown rare instances where you stand up to Bush. But they are few and far between.
You have allowed Bush and his underlings to ignore subpoena after subpoena. You have given him everything he has wanted with respect to Iraq when all is said and done. You talk too much of compromise.
We all want a Congress that possesses the same passion and righteous resolve that we possess. Nine months in office, and you have proven you do not.
And that is why you suck.
Can you change our perception of you? Sure. You can fight. You can send President Bush a new SCHIP bill that expands coverage. And when Bush vetoes that bill, you can send him another bill that expands coverage even more.
On Iraq, you can keep sending Bush withdrawal bills time and again. Who the fuck cares if he vetoes them. Make his fucking pen run out of ink.
On FISA, you can insist that the law as originally written be respected, for if you explain the original FISA law to the American people, they will surely understand that it is more than enough to protect us against the terrorist threat.
On subpoenaes, you can fucking that this administration to court! Who cares if the decks are stacked against you. Fighting for the Constitution and losing is better than sitting on your fat ass and doing nothing at all.
If you ever wondered why some of us "bloggers" and "wacky netroots" folks are a little pissed off at you, it is because the political benefits of doing all of the above are obvious to us, yet they are mysterious to you. And while you do nothing and capitulate to Bush, we take the brunt of their attacks day in and day out, with no help from you. It's like you did the deed and we get the punishment. We get the battering while you hide. That is why we are pissed off.
