John Edwards Answers Rural Voters

John Edwards recent visit to Columbus-Belmont State Park in far Western Kentucky, nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River was a smashing success. This park had witnessed history during the Civil War, and got to witness history once more as John Edwards became the first Presidential candidate to come and speak to voters in this town of 229 people. Close to 1800 people came to this beautiful historic park to watch Edwards speak. So many people showed up that the BBQ brought by a local restaraunt for 1000 people was gone in twenty minutes.

These voters are tired of being ignored by big politicians. They are tired of the Democratic Party conceding their part of the country to the Republicans in Presidential elections. They have watched as the administration of George W. Bush has sunk their area of our country further downt the income scale. They watch as their children move away from their homes, because they cannot make a living where they work.

John Edwards is the first candidate in a long time that has really cared about and adressed the problems and concerns of these voters. He is the first Democrat in a long time who has seen these voters as important enough to do more than fly over. This is no coincidence. John Edwards was born and raised in a town such as this, with neighbors just like mine living around him.

Two of the better things that have happened to our party in the last few years are John Edwards and Howard Dean. Both of them have decided it is lunacy to just concede these voters without a fight. Both of them think is a disaster that the Democratic Party believes it can't address the concerns of these voters and be successful. Both of them want us to know our part of the country matters to Democrats, and have shown a dedication to fight for rural Americans.

Here is my video shot in Columbus, Kentucky of the Q&A session between the rural voters of Western Kentucky and John Edwards. Anyone who doesn't believe that Edwards is our most electable candidate, or that Democrats can't reach out to rural or southern voters should watch this video. These 1800 people in a little town in Western Kentucky proved that both Howard Dean and John Edwards are right in reaching out to include us in their vision of America once more. So to Howard Dean I say, thank you for not allowing us to be ignored, and to John Edwards I say thank you so much for coming here, and giving us you vision of hope for all Americans!!!
