Did you all read this slanderous quote?
Consider this hypothetical. It’s November 2008. A young Pakistani Muslim is watching television and sees that this man—Barack Hussein Obama—is the new face of America. In one simple image, America’s soft power has been ratcheted up not a notch, but a logarithm. A brown-skinned man whose father was an African, who grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii, who attended a majority-Muslim school as a boy, is now the alleged enemy. If you wanted the crudest but most effective weapon against the demonization of America that fuels Islamist ideology, Obama’s face gets close. It proves them wrong about what America is in ways no words can.
"Barrack Hussein Obama" -- Simply outrageous
"Attended a majority-Muslim school" -- What a racist
Where are the action alerts? Where are the denunciations? How come not only the MSM, but also the blogs and even the Obama campaign are allowing such below-the-belt attacks?
Maybe it has something to do that the comments were made by Andrew Sullivan in a piece strongly endorsing Obama for president.
Anyway, though, what difference does that make. Bob Kerrey obviously had other intentions in mind. He must have said those things only to support Hillary, or even because he was instructed to by the Hillary campaign. For example, look at what Kerrey said:
"On the foreign policy side, his big strength is that his name is Barack Hussein Obama." He [Kerrey] argued that Mr. Obama’s foreign-language skills, connection to Muslim countries and personal background uniquely qualify him to send the message that "we are not your worst enemy, unless you make us so."
Yep, he obviously said those things to undermine Obama in favor of Hillary Clinton. But, there's only one thing. The above quote comes from an article in the New York Observer on May 1, 2007, long before he endorsed anyone. In fact, in the same interview, he offered criticisms of Clinton.
Funny, I don't remember the MSM, Daily Kos, or even the Obama campaign criticizing Kerrey in May 2007 when he made those comments. I wonder how that is explained? And again, they didn't criticize Sullivan's comments.
What's going on? Anybody want to launch a campaign to denounce Sullivan's piece in the Atlantic?

UPDATE: Listen to Kerrey's full comments to CNN. It's absolutely clear that he was praising Obama, not slandering him. Even the comment about "madrassa" was made at the very end of the interview, after repeated questions, and only in reference to "discussion on blogs" about Obama having attended a madrassa.
