Imagine, if you will, that Bush isn't setting this up as an attack in the spring as so many people are afraid he's doing with his ship movements in the Straights of Hormuz or putting an aviator in charge of the ME operations right now. It looks to me like Bush is looking for a way to get troops redeploying out of Iraq before the 2008 campaign, but striking Iran just before people go to vote in 11/08, like the predictable October surprise. Could it be a Rovian set up for McCain to appear to be the champion who must win that election to frightened voters? I wouldn't put anything passed Rove or the neocons. These are people who uses phrases like, "gird our loins," in talking about what we have to do in preparation to a strike against Iran. I don't think a single one of these people have ever had to "gird their loins." Bush will jet off to his new digs in Paraguay. Who do you want to head the Democratic ticket that day in 11/08 running against John McCain and having to be ready to take on the mess Bush leaves behind for all of us?
I'm choosing Wes Clark.
