UPDATE: At the Edwards Press Conference

Dear Friends,
I am currently sitting at the Carolina Inn, located just about two blocks from where I work. Soon, we will have a press conference by Elizabeth and John Edwards. The back-story is, of course, that Senator Edwards recently had to cancel campaign appearances to be with his wife for a follow-up exam. Originally, it was nothing, the type of follow-up that had happened before and that preferred to be present at. But, now the follow-up exam is over and we're told to expect an announcement. Campaign staff are tight-lipped, although there is a "buzz" that the campaign is not over. We can only hope that means that whatever is happening is not too bad. I think we will have to assume it is something, but hopefully it is not everything. Updates after the break.

11:30 - in position at the Carolina Inn. I will also be tracking events at BlueNC.com.

11:50 - CNN leaking that campaign will be suspended. I heard someone say this as a rumor a little while ago, so I don't know that it is confirmed.

12 noon - don't believe the rumors. Wait for the press conference.

12:08 - the campaigns is saying the politico is wrong. news puppet saying to his network "Keep on keeping on with our speculation in the gray area, but not be too specific."

12:11 - they are not canceling campaign events? The staffers, some of them, do not know what is happening.

Update [2007-3-22 13:17:1 by chuckles1]:: Hope. Truly, hope must be on the way. Our hope for Elizabeth Edwards to live as long and as full a life as possible. I have a friend with Type IV Astroglioma, which was a death sentence when he received the diagnosis, but which he is still fighting all these years later. Type IV Metastatic Breast Cancer is bad, don't kid yourself, but Elizabeth Edwards is showing us how to deal with it. Put your chin up and fight. In just the last half-hour I've gone from miserable to resigned to hopeful. If John and Elizabeth Edwards won't hang their heads, then dammit, neither will I.
