Spitzer Fights Back against Harry + Louise Smear

Over the course of the past couple of weeks, the airwaves in New York have been fluttered with nasty ads attacking Eliot Spitzer's efforts to create a better health care system for all New Yorkers. The HMOS and Insurance bastards are behind these virulent and despicable attacks. The special interests can't honestly state their positions that all they care about is profits instead of people. The special interests can't honestly state their positions that they don't want costs contained and people screwed.

Instead of Harry and Louise, they are hiding behind so called nurses. And instead of criticizing the plan for what it doesn't do, the special interests actually have the chutzpah for saying that Spitzer's plan doesn't do what Spitzer's plan would actually do. Eliot Spitzer wants to make health care more affordable, more qualitative and more accessible to all New Yorkers. However, the HMOs and Insurance Companies want to increase cost for health care, reduce the quality of care for patients, remove medical decisions from the purview of medical personnel and patients, and deny the "undesirables" access to health care. But the Special interests are trying to turn up into down by engaging in a campaign of Orwellian proportions.

Thankfully, Eliott Spitzer didn't just sit back thinking that these spurious attacks would go away. Spitzer has learned that you never permit right wing lies to fester in the public domain without a swift and direct response. And Spitzer did just that.

Governor Spitzer responded by running a powerful ad of his own rebutting the lies of the Insurance and HMO industries which are ruining health care. While more needs to be done and more direct criticisms of these bureaucrats is a must, this is a good start.

Governor Spitzer is a welcome change to 12 years of anti-middle class, incompetent Patakism.

UPDATE: The ads seem to be coming from a combination of upper levels of 1 union (which has supported Republicans before) and a hospital assocation about Medicaid cuts.

Spitzer is restoring many of the cuts but the group is misleading claiming he is cutting. http://www.timesunion.com/...
