STOP LOSING in Iraq

It is plain and clear that American soldiers in Iraq are receiving countless attacks from the insurgency on a daily basis. More than fifty-thousand soldiers have been wounded. More than three thousand soldiers have been killed. It is also plain that the violence is strengthening. The quagmire in Iraq has turned into an actual civil war. Much less than being welcomed as liberators, we are reviled as an occupation force--an agent for evil. Nobody willing to see reality can contest any of this. It has been more than four years. What do we have to show for it?

We have destroyed the country of Iraq. We have destabilized the entire middle east. We have emboldened terrorists across the globe. We have watched helplessly as Iraq descends into civil war.

Americans have been dying in Iraq for four years, with the stated goal of turning that country into a haven for democracy. I think we've destroyed enough lives, ruined enough marriages, made fatherless enough children. It's time to STOP LOSING the war in Iraq. We've been losing for four years--losing our citizens to bullets, losing our respectability to bungling, losing our moral standing by torturing innocents--it's more than enough. STOP LOSING! Take our soldiers out of harm's way and STOP LOSING.

We need to stop giving any credit to tired talking points. The only way to honestly "support the troops" is to take them out of harm's way. The Iraq war is already lost, and has been lost for years. STOP LOSING.
