The SUV was driven by Robert Rasinski, who is a NJ State Trooper. It's possible that he'll be getting into legal trouble as well. I think that getting charged with whatever he's charged with will probably be justified. If that was any of us, we would have been pulled over and given a ticket and possibly suspension of our driver's license.
The speed limit at the time of the crash was 65. That means that the trooper was going about 26 miles over the speed limit. Everyone that I know who has gotten in trouble for speeding that much over the speed limit has gotten their license suspended for a couple of months. I don't know what the laws are in New Jersey, as opposed to here in Maine, but I doubt that they are much different. I'm sure that there could be more, and more serious, charges than those as well.
But luckily, Corzine is doing fine:
Doctors have said he doesn’t have brain damage or paralysis, and is doing well for someone who sustained so many injuries.
Anyway, I just wanted to write up a quick diary about this.
