So, it looks like the Army is calling off recruiting for a day in order to
"stand down" and remind their recruitment officers about ethics rules.
According to Maj. Gen Michael Rochelle, misconduct allegations didn't help recruiters (d'oh!). "The actions of a few have reflected very, very badly on many of us, myself included. We are all injured by that." He attributed recruitment difficulties to low unemployment and parents' discouraging their children from enlisting.
"We are engaged in war," Rochelle said. "And right now no one wants to see their sons or daughters placed in harm's way. No person should want that. But the reality is that we have to defend our freedoms. And someone has to do it."
What is especially rockstar about this, is that a high school kid helped expose all of this!!!
A senior from Arvada named David McSwane went undercover with the help of his little sister and his mom, and convinced two Army recruiters that he was a druggie and a dropout -- and guess what! The recruiters helped him get a fake diploma and then they took him to a headshop for a detox kit!!! Y'all should seriously read the whole article, it's awesome.
It would rock for us Kosistas to give this kid a huge thumbs-up! And more importantly, it is important for us to keep this kind of pressure on recruiters!!!
