Gonzales hearing "delayed" until April 17?

What the hell is this? An AP article reports that Alberto Gonzales's hearing has been delayed until April 17. But I was under the impression that it was always slated for April 17, and that the Bush administration just wanted it to be moved up earlier. There's no delaying here; it's at the same time it always was.

With the headline and the text of the article reading that Senate Democrats are delaying Gonzales's hearing, it makes it sound as though it's the Democrats who are deliberately trying to slow down justice from moving along. Or am I mistaken about the April 17 date, and that that was always Gonzales's scheduled court appearance? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.
