Ok, so that story about Obama and McCain just aired on CBS and probably on a lot of other news networks. Obama had said:
"And if there ever was a reflection of that it's the fact that Senator McCain required a flack jacket, 10 armored Humvees, two Apache attack helicopters, and 100 soldiers with rifles by his side to stroll through a market in Baghdad just a few weeks ago."
McCain replied:
"While Senator Obama's two years in the U.S. Senate certainly entitle him to vote against funding our troops, my service and experience combined with conversations with military leaders on the ground in Iraq lead me to believe that we must give this new strategy a chance to succeed because the consequences of failure would be catastrophic to our nation's security.
By the way, Senator Obama, it's a 'flak' jacket, not a 'flack' jacket."
The only problem, according to CNN, is that Obama was technically right on the spelling. It can be spelled either way. But CBS Evening News didn't report that. And I'm sure other news organizations aren't either. I tried calling CBS, hoping to get a correction, but surprisingly they close at 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
I don't know if I'm going to support Obama or not, I'm just mad that John McCain is getting "the last laugh" in this story. Sure, he'll be beaten to a pulp in next year's primaries, but why don't we start by getting the media to report the truth for once.
I know this may seem insignificant, but even such a small lie really ticks me off. This diary probably won't get much attention but if anyone wants to help me by contacting any news source that reports this story wrong and persuading them to make a correction. Thanks everyone.
