"It's already having a big impact on our weather," Mowry said. "And with the high winds coming out of the north and northeast, the waves are really kicking up -- 10-foot seas right along the coastline and breakers on the beaches up around 6 feet, leading to some beach erosion."
Mowry said there's a very small chance that the system could turn into the first named storm of the season.
A subtropical storm has the characteristics of both a low-pressure system and a tropical storm, which has a warm core circulation. If the storm's winds reach sustained speeds of 39 mph or higher, the National Hurricane Center could name the system Andrea. The system is expected to bring strong winds to the area through Tuesday, according to the report.
I remind everyone, Hurricane Season does not start officially until June 1st. It seems like the Conventional "Seasons" may become a thing of the past in the face of a future filled with dangerous and increasingly dramatic weather... all the more reason to raise the alarm on Global Warming.
