We have seen this Administration use its own incompetence as reason to try and rip apart our Constitution. 9-11 could have been prevented with competent leadership, but this administration has used it as a propoganda ploy to disguise their all out assault on the Constitutional right of citizens to be protected by warrants. They appoint judges who believe that corporations have more rights than people. Worse than that, they heap scorn upon our courts, judges and juries by believing they and their cronies are above the law and making it so. I wish for America to respect her Constitution once again.
On this Independence Day I also speak out on the plight of our military. Our military and National Guard were meant to be protection and security for all the free world, not a force sent out on the whim of a madman to secure more profits for he and his ilk. The Administration chastises us for our support of the troops, but sends them to the wrong place at the wrong time with no equipment and no plan, while denying them higher pay and asking them to heal with cock-roaches if they happen to be maimed. At home they deny vital funds to those veterans of other wars who still have needs. I wish that our country would once again truly respect our military and veterans.
The plight of the American worker is equally lamentable. Americans are working longer and longer for lower wages and hardly no benefits. Millions are left with no health insurance if they have some bad luck. Factories and Plants that provide high-paying Middle-Class jobs are closing down and being replaced by Wal-Mart and McDonald's. The scourge of free trade has stabbed the American worker in the back, with a golden dagger provided by our government. I wish once again our country would respect workers, and make products to ship and sell all over the world once again.
Once our country was the beacon of hope and freedom to all the world. Now as the world's lone superpower we have unique opportunity to be a positive influence in spreading the ideals of freedom in the world. The world, as it has since the end of WWII wants to look to us for leadership, and enlightenment. They want to see the American people lead by example and be the first country built upon the ideals of the enlightenment once again. I wish my country would once again practice freedom and set a shining example of it to the world.
It is too sad the process it takes for one to have a chance to run and be elected to private office. Our fore-fathers envisioned a country where everyday people would go to Washington and do their duty to the American people for a while, and then return to their careers. Many men and women like one I worked for, Eric Streit, have the drive and motivation to go to Washington and really work hard for the people they represent, but because they are not from some elitist society they have not the money or the resources to compete against big-monied incumbents. I wish my country would allow more citizens the opportunity to be part of the governing process.
Those are just some of the things I hope ol Sam was wishing for when he blew out the candles today. I hope Americans everywhere had a wonderful day!!
