Dear Fellow Kossacks ( love saying this now), this is my very first diary entry, I only posted one comment a year ago, but I just returned from the Yearly Kos Convention and I am now divesting myself of diary writing fear, so here goes. I am awed to be in the company of such brilliant, compassionate, dedicated Americans. I hope you enjoy my first entry. Maeve
I promised a fellow blogger at the Yearly Kos Convention last week that I would blog about the convention and I will do so, but before I do I need to say that Marcos represented liberal progessives brilliantly this morning with Harold Ford and David Gregory on Meet the Press. He was commanding. He confronted Ford on his Fox tour, the failures of the DLC, and defended himself brilliantily on the Hillary question. And, I agree with him about Hillary and her coldness. Her handlers must let her show her humanity. Caution should be used with her use of language (for obvious reasons), but she must relate to the public, even in a debate, as if she were speaking to one person. And she is, every time she steps up to the microphone, she is speaking to me, to each of you, and if she doesn't get this, she could lose the nomination (if she gets it), or worse the election.
On the convention, I met incredible people. And, I was there to learn, I have been a "lurker" as this is only my second diary entry, and learn I did. The best lesson I took away from the convention came from Howard Dean in his keynote address. And, I paraphrase here, but in the strongest terms he said we need to elect Democrats but we also need to make them accountable! And, that is why the Dianne Feinstein's constituents and the other fifteen Democrats' (who voted against for the FISA bill) constituents need make them accountable to us as well! See you next year at the Netroots Convention wherever that is! Maeve
