San Antonio Animal Care Services had quite a scare late Thursday afternoon as lower levels of the animal storage facilities flooded. Over 80 employees used some quick thinking to move 71 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies to unoccupied space in the upper levels of the facility.
Lisa Norwood from Animal Care Services explained to WOAI.com that the lower portion of the building is like a big bowl, and once the flood waters started to rise, the existing drainage system just couldn’t keep up.
Animal Care Services is located at 210 Tuleta (near the San Antonio Zoo).
Norwood assures us that the animals may be a little wet, but in no danger at all. Once the rain stops and the floods recede, the animals will be returned to their original cages.
All these animals would just love to find a warm, dry home. Click here if you’re interested in adopting a pet.
