That being said, besides the exposing of Fletcher, Greg Stumbo was an excellent Attorney General. During a time period here a in the last couple or three years when it seemed at least a child a month was abducted and murdered, Greg Stumbo was leading a fight to capture and bring justice upon people who would prey on our children.
To national Democrats, I would just like to say too, that all during the period when we had a Republican Congress and the Bush Administration was getting away with all their shananigans, Greg Stumbo was right here in Kentucky holding our governor who was acting in the same fashion accountable. He did this at considerable political risk. He did this while we were powerless to attack at the national level. He brought moral up for me in times that seemed almost hopeless by fighting. I felt I could keep fighting too.
I cannot tell you very much about his exact positions on national issues. He has mostly been a state elected official, including winning a state-wide election as Attorney General. I can show you however what Attorney General Stumbo fought for on the state level. He not only fought Predatory Lenders, he won costumers of these businesses that had been overcharged compensation:

I think there is no question that Greg Stumbo would fight the Predatory lenders that have poisoned our economy by charging outrageous interest on the poorest among us. He already has.
Next, I want to show you another body of work by Greg Stumbo that I think that national Democrats should take a very hard look at because it is one of the most important of our generation. It is no secret that all of us on the so-called "looney left-wing blogs" have serious questions about the voting process, and believe their may have been problems with the results of the last two Presidential elections. Well, Greg Stumbo as the top law enforcement official in Kentucky defended the ultimate law, the right to vote. He actually helped lead the way in being one of only three Attorneys General to do so:
Kentucky Attorney General Greg Stumbo today demanded that electronic voting machine manufacturers immediately correct security flaws identified in an independent review by experts in California.
The Attorney General's letters to Hart InterCivic and Diebold Election Systems, Inc. require the voting machine makers to immediately upgrade their products or face a lawsuit by Kentucky.
"Security upgrades are needed immediately to ensure voter confidence in the upcoming election," said Attorney General Stumbo. "Waiting and hoping for the best is not an option when the problems are obvious. Kentucky deserves the same prompt corrective action as California."
He was attacked by an up and comer in the Republican Party here, Sec. of State Trey Grayson who was defending the status-quo. Stumbo quickly responded:
Stumbo's call for action was publicly criticized by Secretary of State Trey Grayson yesterday.
"I cannot share Mr. Grayson's do-nothing attitude," commented Stumbo. "Kentucky is a first class state that deserves the same voter security and protection as the California Secretary of State demanded and received."
In a letter responding to Secretary of State Grayson yesterday, Stumbo explained the need for immediate attention to voting machine flaws. Among the action items identified by Stumbo were the following:
The voting machines are barred from use in California until the security flaws are fixed. Kentucky deserves the same protection.
Optical ballot scanners touted by Secretary Grayson would not fix the defective machines. Security upgrades must be implemented.
Kentucky erroneously certified the same machines now known to be faulty, requiring an immediate reexamination.
He summed it up quite nicely:
"The solution to this problem is plain to me," Stumbo concluded. "Voting machine manufacturers must repair what is broken and provide ample support to our hard working County Clerks as they conduct free and fair elections. The voters, the County Clerks, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky deserve no less."
I think this shows us all a little about how Greg Stumbo feels about protecting the rights of every American to have their votes counted fairly and SECURELY. He would not be afraid to fight for fair and accurate elections, he already has.

I hope anyone who is interested in helping Kentuckians beat Mitch McConnell in 08 will go to the Greg Stumbo exploratory site and take a look at some of his accomplishments in a distinguished life of public service. It is going to take a national effort to defeat McConnell and I hope some of you will consider giving him support. His site is here:
